Code of Conduct

FRAMINGHAM BASEBALL CODE OF CONDUCT

Youth sports programs play an important role in promoting the physical, social and emotional development of children. It is therefore essential for parents, players, coaches and officials, including umpires, to encourage youth athletes to embrace the values of good sportsmanship. Moreover, adults involved in youth sports events should be models of good sportsmanship and should lead by example by demonstrating fairness, respect and self-control.

I therefore pledge to be responsible for my words and actions while attending, coaching, officiating or participating in any Framingham Baseball sports event and shall conform my behavior to the following code of conduct:

I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct and I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

I will not engage, and I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

I will not use drugs or alcohol while at a youth sports event and will not attend, coach, officiate or participate in a youth sports event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

I will not permit my child, or encourage any other person, to use drugs or alcohol at a youth sports event and will not permit my child, or encourage any other person, to attend, coach, officiate or participate in a youth sports event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

I will not engage in the use of profanity.  I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in the use of profanity.

I will treat and will encourage my child to treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.

I will not engage in, and I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

I will not initiate, and I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

If I have a child(ren) that is playing in the Framingham Baseball League, I will support the Player Code of Conduct and help to enforce the values with my child(ren).

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

Framingham Baseball League is committed to the development of its youth into the best baseball players and well-rounded young adults, both on and off the field, by offering a fun and safe environment in which to build upon a player’s skills and abilities. Excellent sportsmanship, in the form of healthy competition, coincides with the overall attitude of community awareness and the desire to be a good citizen. Therefore, each player will be expected to follow the Framingham Baseball League Code of Conduct,  and each parent is expected to help enforce these values.

- Players will follow the Baseball Code of Respect, Integrity and Pride.

- Players understand that baseball is a team sport and any absences, whether from practice or games, affects the overall team. Players unable to attend a practice or game will notify the coach or manager as soon as the coming absence is known.

- Players will show respect to the umpires. Players will accept responsibility for all calls made.

- Players will positively acknowledge the umpire’s efforts after a game regardless of the game’s outcome.

- Players will show respect to the other team’s players. Players will not be allowed to taunt an opposing player or team. Taunting includes but is not limited to "chirping" or chanting  in a negative way towards an opposing team or player. 

- Players will show respect to their teammates, coaches, managers and parents. We represent our community. No swearing, No throwing equipment, or any other action that the coach would view as an unacceptable representation of Framingham baseball.

I hereby agree that if I fail to conform my conduct to the foregoing while playing, attending, coaching, officiating or participating in any Framingham Baseball sports event I will be subject to disciplinary action, including but not limited to the following in any order or combination:

Verbal warning issued by the Framingham Baseball league or organization official.

Written warning issued by the Framingham Baseball league or organization official.

Suspension or immediate ejection from a Framingham Baseball sports event issued by the Framingham Baseball League or  organization official who is authorized to issue such suspension or ejection by the Framingham Baseball League Board of Directors.

Suspension from multiple Framingham Baseball League sports events issued by the Board of Directors.

Season suspension or multiple season suspension issued by the Board of Directors.
