Hard to
believe it but the season is just a little over a month away! As we get
ready for the 2026 season, we are putting the call out for players 13
and older who are interested in being an umpire for the spring season.
If your player is interested in this opportunity, please confirm via e-mail to Mike Winders at [email protected] and let us know any pertinent information (conflicts, plate/field preferences, etc.). Please provide Mike this information:
- Your child's name and age
- Either your e-mail, your child's e-mail, or both
- Either your phone number, your child's phone number, or both
- Any
days/times your child is unavailable (I realize he/she won't have a
practice/game schedule until teams are formed and/or until the high
school schedule is released)
The
Board of Directors unanimously decided that all umpires should attend a
classroom session and a field session, even if they attended last
year. The field sessions are still to be scheduled as we are not sure
we will get the permits for the field, but classroom sessions are
scheduled. As they were last year, they will be held in the Costin
Room at Framingham Public Library. We have two dates booked, the same
information will be given at both so you only need to attend one. They
are:
Monday, March 30, 7:30-8:30
Tuesday, March 31, 7:30-8:30
Longtime
Board member and even longer time umpire Vinny Ferrara will be running
these sessions. Please do your best to make one of these sessions; as
there are a LOT of kids who want to ump and there are not that many
games available, so I will have to give priority to umpires who attend
the informational sessions. If you cannot make one of the classroom
sessions you will absolutely need to attend a field session; players,
coaches, and parents put a lot of time and energy into this league and
we need to make sure that our umpires are as prepared as possible. The
feedback we received about youth umps last year was 99% positive, due
in large part to how seriously the kids took the job. We're all hoping
for the same outcome this year!
Any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks!
